Read more on the Indigo/ILA Wellbeing Program

It has been a challenging two years, caused by the global pandemic and research has shown on-going uncertainty can lead to low moods, decreased productivity and increased stress.

Our People and Culture team wanted to proactively and thoughtfully address the impact COVID-19, lockdowns and changes in the workplace are having on staff, and  implemented a Wellbeing Strategy for Indigo and ILA.

Indigo Partners with ECU's Equity, Diversity and Disability Office

Our Allied Health Team are excited about Indigo’s new partnership with Edith Cowan University’s  ( ECU) Equity, Diversity and Disability office, to support students to access assistive technology (AT) equipment and/or devices to support and assist their studies.

Commencing in July, our team have already completed four consultations with ECU students.

Students accessing ECU’s Equity, Diversity and Disability office services are informed of Indigo’s services, and then students can be referred or refer themselves for a consultation.

What is Assistive Technology (AT)?

Assistive technology (AT) is anything that supports or lets you do that which you can’t do/or can no longer do yourself.

AT can be simple, like a pair of reading glasses, to the more complex, such as a communication program that supports speech, and everything in between.

There is AT for every activity and aspect of life. If you want to do it, play it, make it, participate in it, or use it, there is AT available to support you to achieve your goals (and if there isn’t an AT solution, chances are it’s being developed).

Indigo’s Schools Team has completed three successful site visits to the school, as well as conducting regular telehealth catchups with staff.

School staff have received supported in-class demonstrations, training, coaching, consultation, and regular goal setting with our Schools Team to develop their skills in supporting students with complex needs to communication and participation.

Indigo Non-Electronic Communication Aids Service

Non-electronic communication aids are tools that can help someone express and understand language. They are one type of assistive technology called Augmentative and Alternative Communication, AAC for short.

Non-electronic communication aids may also be referred to as low-tech or paper-based communication aids. They may be laminated or made of durable, waterproof, tearproof paper.

There are many different forms of non-electronic communication aids from robust, multi-level communication books that can be used across the day in a range of different situations, to activity-based books created to be used in certain situations.

KeepAble: KeepAble presents the Assistive Technology Essentials Guide featuring an introduction to low-risk assistive technology.

Whilst low risk assistive technology is just one aspect of CHSP service provision, the use of such can make a fundamental difference in a person’s capacity to manage everyday activities independently, safely and confidently.

Read more about the Portal and follow AT Chat on social media as the live countdown begins.

AT Chat: The AT Chat team has been working tirelessly behind the scenes as they prepare to launch the new AT Portal. Storing all your AT information in one place, the portal will be your central platform where you can collate and build your AT journey, your way.

By compiling AT data from the National Equipment Database (NED), you can streamline your service provider appointments and know what you want, when you need it.
