Indigo Corporate Video

Indigo began more than 41 years ago as the Independent Living Centre WA (ILC).

In the two years since it's renaming and rebranding, Indigo continues to be a leading provider of assistive technology (devices and equipment), home modifications, therapy, driving and training services. We have a growing national presence with the largest National Equipment Database (NED) in Australia with more than 18,000 products, which underpins the Australian geat2GO devices and equipment program.

We provide tailored allied health and AT solutions to people with disability, seniors, carers, health professionals and educators. Through our customer-centric services we aim to achieve greater independence and inclusion for all.

Australian geat2GO Six Month Anniversary

Launched on the 16 August 2021, Indigo’s National geat2GO program has achieved a great deal in just six months.

To date geat2GO has helped over 7,000 customers with over 15,000 products across all of Australia; and provided additional support and AT (assistive technology) advice to meet individual independence goals.

Assistive technology (AT) is a piece of equipment, device or system that can increase a person’s independence, assist with staying socially connected and to remain safely at home.

AT is anything that supports or lets you do that which you can’t do/or can no longer do yourself. AT can be simple, like a jar opener, to the more complex, such as a communication program that supports speech, and everything in between.

An Australian government initiative, geat2GO is a funding source for people eligible for the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) and offers older people access to funding towards helpful devices and equipment each year, to help maintain or increase their independence.

For more information on the geat2GO program please contact our dedicated geat2GO team on:

Widya's Indigo Driving Journey

Meet Widya, who's determination  and  perseverance saw her embark on a long but successful journey with Indigo's Driving Team.

When an accident in 2018, in which she broke both kneecaps and her wrist (requiring surgery) limited her mobility even more and left her dependent on others for transportation, Widya was determined to get her licence so she could take her daughter to school and regain her independence.

“I could no longer access public transport, and became reliant on family for all my transport needs.”

Indigo Non-Electronic Communication Aids Service: Fully Waterproof PODD Books

Indigo's team of Speech Pathologists and Allied Health Assistant  work with individuals to develop and customise a range of non-electronic communication aids specific to their needs.

Non-electronic communication aids are tools that can assist someone who uses non-verbal or limited verbal communication to express and understand language.

They are one type of assistive technology called Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).

PODD books are a comprehensive communication system that can be used in an individual's day-to-day life

Five PODD books displayed on a table

.A plus for PODD books is their versatility of use in places where electronic systems can't be used such as the shower or swimming pool.

To make our PODD books fully waterproof rather than the current shower proof options available, our industrious allied health assistant researched and located waterproof paper and labels online which have been fully tested as100% waterproof.

Indigo's PODD books can now be fully submerged in water (if needed) making them safe for the beach, swimming lessons and messy play.

NDIS funding can be utilised to fund the time and materials required for our allied health assistant to create and customise a waterproof PODD book.

What's Happening at iLA?

iLA is busier than ever, with lots happening across all departments. Major projects include the brand refresh and the launch of LiveUp, The rest of iLA's initiatives have also been making excellent progress over the last two months.

Independent Living Assessment has undergone a brand refresh and will now be called iLA

As we have evolved as an organisation we believe that the name Independent Living Assessment no longer adequately represents who we are and what we deliver through the provision of independent information, navigation, and capacity building initiatives.

The new logo keeps the original logomark whilst updating the name and font to a more modern design which reflects iLA’s digital offerings whilst still honouring our history.

LiveUp - Welcome to the upside of ageing

iLA is proud to announce the launch of LiveUp, a free healthy ageing guide that can be accessed from the comfort of your own home.

Providing all the tools, tips, and technology to help you age your way.
